Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Microsoft

Almost every account breach is blocked by one simple action: enabling multi-factor authentication. Here's how to set it up correctly in Microsoft 365 or a personal account.

🚀 Ornet's recommendation: download the Microsoft Authenticator app to your phone in advance. It's the most secure and convenient way to approve sign-ins.
Step 1: Go to Security Settings

Go to the following link and sign in with your username and password (work or personal account):

Manage Account Security ➞
Step 2: Add a Sign-in Method

Click + Add sign-in method and choose Authenticator app from the list.

Step 3: Scan the QR Code

A QR code will appear on your computer screen. Open the app on your phone, tap "+", choose "Work or School", and scan the code shown on your computer.

Step 4: Final Confirmation

The app will ask you to tap a number that appears on your computer. Confirm it, and that's it — your account is now fully protected!

❓ Does this also work for Gmail or Facebook?

The principle is exactly the same! The Authenticator app can store codes for all the leading websites. We recommend enabling it everywhere it's offered.
