Want quick access to WhatsApp or Gmail straight from the taskbar? Here's how to turn any website into a standalone "app" in 3 clicks.
🛠️ The Steps, Inside Chrome
01
Open the site you want
In your browser, go to the site you want to turn into an app (e.g. web.whatsapp.com).
02
Open the options menu
Click the three dots in the top corner of the browser (next to your profile picture).
03
Create the shortcut (Save and Share)
Hover over Save and Share, then click Install page as app.
* On older versions of Chrome: More Tools ➞ Create Shortcut.
04
Configure the window
In the popup window, make sure the Open as window option is checked, then click "Create" or "Install."
🚀 The End Result
The site will now appear as a completely separate window (with no browser tabs at the top). You can right-click it on the taskbar and select Pin to taskbar so it always stays there.
💡 Pro tip: This works great for task management sites, email, and music players. It saves you the confusion of dozens of open browser tabs and lets you use Alt + Tab to switch to the site as if it were a regular standalone program.
